Bethany Sarah and Rebekah Christmas 2008
Dear Family and Friends,

Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory.
- Eph 3:20

This past week we were in Atlanta, GA at Bible Baptist Church. The week was a great week, and we saw many answers to prayer. One thing that stood out to me was the fact that even more than we know, God is willing to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask. My prayer is that I don’t come to the point where I don’t ask God to do more. James O. Frasier when praying for the Liseu people prayed for hundreds of families. May God give me the faith to ask for more than I ever have!

Again we had many opportunities to recruit, and the public schools were very open. We were able to get into a very key lunch room two days in a row. We even had a large color add in The Roar, the school newspaper for Luella High. Most of our recruits came from Luella, and it was exciting to see fruit from the investment in the paper.

Saturday, the first night of the War we had 67 young people, 30 new first time visitors. Six were saved, though about 16 raised their hands indicating the need for salvation. Sunday though was the greatest breakthrough, and Dr. Jim later said that it was because someone must have been praying. We had 15 young men respond to the invitation, in fact we even ran out of counselors. Tim Roberts ran down the academy hallway looking for men to counsel and walked in on a school board meeting. The meeting was quickly dismissed and nearly all the men got to lead a soul to Jesus Christ!

Rosemary
One girl in particular the Lord burdened me for. She was very tough-looking, with short hair, baggy pants and a baseball cap. I didn’t know she was a girl, except her name on the registration card was Rosemary. She raised her hand during the invitation but didn’t respond and go back. Jake mentioned it to me since I didn’t see her raise her hand. Afterwards however, when I talked to her I didn’t steer the conversation toward the gospel. I knew I should have talked to her about her soul, so I really prayed that she would come back the next night. With the War I have learned that if the Lord really burdens me for a specific person perhaps it is because they will not be coming back the second night and that might be the last opportunity they have to hear the gospel. I will never forget when I was in Seattle, WA I had the opportunity to talk to an Asian girl named Kim. I didn’t take the opportunity that was sitting in my lap to share the gospel with her. She promised to be back the next night, but she never came. But on the next night, which was Sunday, Rosemary came back to the War. She again raised her hand in the invitation and when she did not come back I was burdened to go up to her and take her back. It ended up that she was struggling with assurance of salvation, and I was able to share with her how she could know she was saved. It was a very good time, and I know the Lord used it.

Timothy
On Saturday night there were three teens that came who were a real hindrance to the message at night. These three guys were originally supposed to be on Tim’s team, but signed up for Army and refused to change after seeing some friends on the other team. They all came from Luella Jr. High, and had a lot of friends at the War. Timothy, the spokesman for the group, was a 6’5” tall Asian with hair that hung in his eyes. All night long he refused to participate in the games, and during the inside competition he mocked during the skit and sat in his chair during the cheering contest. He even was laughing etc. during the gospel message. I didn’t think he would come back the second night, and kind of hoped he wouldn’t because I knew his two buddies wanted to respond during the invitation, but wouldn’t because of him. We as a team got burdened for Timothy and when he came back the second night he was under conviction. God was working in his heart, and I sitting in the back could see the battle going on. He raised his hand in the invitation, but didn’t respond at first. He half stood and then sat down again. Finally he looked up at Dr. Jim and stood to his feet, passing by his buddies and came forward to be saved. What a thrill it was to see this young man go from death to life, and to see his face beaming after he came back!

William
On Sunday a boy Tim invited named William came and got saved. He is the son of a black ex-marine officer, and Dr. Jim thinks he has a lot of potential. Afterwards Dr. Jim asked him if he had ever heard the gospel. He said that in all his life he never had heard it once! That night he asked Tim if he could come early on Monday and help with anything, so Tim let him come and help all Monday afternoon dig the mud pit. Later when Tim was doing his phone calls William asked if he could call some of them since he knew almost every one of Tim’s recruits. His cousin and his sister ended up coming out on Monday evening, and several of his friends. He sat right next to his cousin in the very back, and when the invitation was given he didn’t respond at first. The youth pastor told the young people that if they knew of someone who was not saved, they should volunteer to take them back if the Lord was working in their heart. William all but picked up his cousin and took him back to be saved. I wondered afterward if William was peeking during the invitation and saw that he raised his hand. He said later that he couldn’t understand why his cousin wouldn’t go back. God honored William’s faith and both William and his cousin were grinning from ear to ear when they came back.

There are many more testimonies from this week, but I am running out of time and space. Hannah Blanton, the pastor’s daughter, got really burdened for her neighbors and friends. I told her of Lydia Saxton’s testimony and how the Lord honored her faith and Rachel Smith was saved, and she wanted to go out and get her friends too. On Monday she went out into her neighborhood and invited many of her friends and neighbors out. Three of them came to the War and a couple of them got saved!

We had a total of 33 salvations, and quite a few new contacts for the church. Pray for the continued follow up for the church. Pray also for these that I have mentioned by name, William, Timothy, and Rosemary. A few other names of those who were saved that stick out are Shane, Michael, and Luiz.

Pray for us this week, as we are in Byron, GA. The last time Dr. Jim was here was nearly twenty years ago, and they had a very large group of teens come out. Pray for recruiting. We only have a few public schools in the area, and a very small community and town.

Thank you, I know that the things that happen are a direct result of your prayers!

For His Cause,
